Q: Why did you start this site?

A: We felt it was important that the citizens and visitors of Santa Barbara have an objective source for burrito ratings. Other sites with anonymous reviews are relatively useless because who knows how many of the ratings are from friends, family or restaurant owners. Also, we love burritos and now we have an excuse to eat as many as we can.

Q: Do you have any recommendations or favorites?

A: We do, but we’re not sharing. You can read our reviews and look at our rankings. One thing to note is that we really are trying to rate the burrito, and the burrito alone. Outside factors, like salsa bar or atmosphere do count, but they are secondary. Don’t think that just because a restaurant gets a high score means it would be a good place to take a date.

Q: What is the proper way to eat a burrito?

A: Both handheld or fork and knife are fine methods. If the burrito comes tightly wrapped in foil you should at least start out with handheld. It is a lot less messy and easier to save the rest for breakfast the next day.

Q: Where I’m from good mexican food is hard to come by, can you give me any tips on enjoying a burrito in Santa Barbara?

A: First, let us say we are deeply sorry you live in an area with subpar mexican food. Now is the time to be adventurous. Try out some lesser known places, away from high traffic areas. If you walk in the restaurant and can’t read the menu, don’t walk out, just go up to the counter and say, “Carne Asada Burrito” (steak) or “Carnitas Burrito” (marinated pork).

Q: What’s with the names El Gordo and Cheezer? Are those nicknames?

A: They are more like superhero burrito eating names, but same idea.
